Your home for Classic Mini Parts, Service, Restoration and Race Preparation.

2016 was a busy and rewarding year for Heritage Garage.
A decision was made early in the year to downsize a little, discontinue service on the new MINIS and focus on the Classics, which have always been my passion.

After years of parts accumulation, moving to the smaller area even within the building had it challenges. We still find ourselves looking for some special part we have tucked away somewhere.

Spring also saw the wrap up of some restorations and the beginning of new ones. Our engine building program never seems to stop and there are always several in the works at any one time.

June brought Mini Meet West to San Diego and we were happy to have several Heritage restorations present and well received.
My personal highlight was having our most recent Cooper S restoration chosen as the People's Choice-Best of Show. It was also great to reconnect with old friends and enjoy San Diego as a tourist along with fellow Mini enthusiasts.

August brought the long awaited return to Bonneville with the Project 64 record breaking Mini from New Zealand. Heritage Garage had supplied the crankshafts for the new engines and we were excited about the potential for another record breaking event. I jumped at the opportunity when invited to join the NZ lads and go play in the salt. The little Mini did not disappoint and broke two more world records in the talented hands of this great bunch of guys.

Jay Leno's Garage heard about the success and the car was invited to be featured in one of his YouTube segments a few weeks later. The team had to get back to work in New Zealand so asked me if I would take the car on their behalf. That was a 2 second decision, giving me the opportunity to see not only one of the absolute coolest garages in the country but meet the "Big Dog" himself.

The video is a huge hit with over 385,000 views to date. Jay has to be the king of car guys and he certainly had fun behind the wheel of my Mini. The exposure brought recognition to Heritage Garage resulting in many business calls and inquiries from around the world. You can check out the video on our website.

Susan and I enjoy our car adventures in Mexico and 2016 was no exception attending our 3rd Rally Maya in the Yucatan It is one of our favorites and we look forward to it each year. My brother and I also had a great time at the Puebla Magic Rally in the mountain region around historic Puebla.

I was also lucky enough to be able to fit in a spectator trip to the Mexican WRC Rally as well as the famous La Carrera Panamericana.
This year for the first time the Panam included a category for BMW MINIS. There were 10 entrants and they showed some very competitive and entertaining driving during the speed stages.

So as the year comes to an end I feel very blessed to have good friends, quality of life and a strong business. I thank each and
every one of you who has trusted us to service or restore your prized Mini.

Thanks also go out to the many repetitive parts buyers throughout the country. I feel we have a great team here at Heritage Garage and our passion for all things Mini is stronger than ever. We are all looking forward to what opportunities 2017 will bring.

Wishing you all the very best for the holiday season and the coming New Year.

  Merry Christmas from Heritage Garage

Graham Reid walks Jay around the record-setting Project '64 Mini from New Zealand, then lets Jay take Graham's personal Mini for a spin.

The folks at Project '64 planned on using our shop as their pre Bonneville shop. Unfortunately, due to poor salt conditions, Bonneville speed week isn't going to happen this year. Check out our album with the full story on Facebook. Click here.
