Sir Stirling Moss meets an old friend

Stirling Moss driving Sprint in 1960s

After 48 years and an intercontinental adventure, VPR 470, the Cooper S Mini Sprint recently restored by Heritage Garage gets to meet one of its famous drivers.

VPR 470 is currently in the UK for a summer vacation with its owner before hopefully returning to California.

It made its debut at the Blyton Park show in May followed by a day in the sun with the Mini Cooper Registry at Beaulieu where both outings brought rave reviews.

Last Sunday at the Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb had to be the icing on the cake when it was reunited with one of its former drivers, Sir Stirling Moss.

During a previous conversation Moss had instantly remembered the first time he drove the car. Mainly because he had forgotten his helmet that day and the borrowed one was too small to allow the chin strap to fasten.

The old grainy black and white picture from the day (up top) verifies the strap flapping in the breeze as he expertly handles a corner.

He seemed very pleased with its current fresh new look and I'm flattered that he took the time to admire our detailed restoration.
