The 24 Hours of LeMons at Chuckwala and Sonoma Raceway
The Spam Car, built by Mike Spangler and Heritage Garage
The Spam Car belongs to mega Mini enthusiast Mike Spangler and has been raced extensively under various themes and disguises with the 24 Hours of LeMons group over the past few years.
In a past guise
It was the green Mr. Bean car complete with a chair on the roof and a lemon with stem and leaves attached to it.
Mike offered the car to Heritage to run at an event late last year. We dropped in an old 1275 power unit we had sitting around and "restored" the outside with a couple of quarts of Home Depot house paint.
Scott Crawford, one of the other drivers, came up with the SPAM can theme and did the ring pull back roof. The drivers dressed as Monty Python's Spamalot knights for the race last year at Chuckwalla near Palm Springs and we all went full Hawaiian for the last race at Sonoma Raceway (aka Sears Point).
Just finishing the weekend is an accomplishment for the 5 driver team we were running.
